YOGA

- Yoga is like music. The rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life -

The word "YOGA" means to join or unite. The union between the body, the mind, and the soul. The sage Patanjali (200 B.C.) was the first person to present the ancient tradition of Yoga. Patanjali described Yoga as the means by which the mind can be made still, quiet and free from distractions. The goal of yoga is to unite the self with the divine.

Yoga helps us to reconnect with our physical body and our mind. It develops strength in the body, attention and awareness in the mind. With Iyenga Yoga, this is achieved through a focus on alignment and precision.

Do you need to be flexible? Not necessarily. B.K.S. Iyengar developed a yoga method which allows everybody to start doing Yoga. B.K.S. Iyengar introduced the use of props ( blocks, bolsters, chairs, belts) to allow the body to learn and develop an ability to do and hold the posture.

Iyengar Yoga is named after Bellur Krishnamachar Sundararaja Iyengar dedicated his life to the study and practice of yoga.  B.K.S. Iyengar was born  on December 14, 1918, in Bellur, India, he studied and practised yoga until his last breath on 20th August 2014. B.K.S. Iyengar did extraordinary work to make yoga accessible to everybody worldwide.
